Starteck Online was started by me, David Austen, almost by accident! I own and manage a very large and cumbersome web site similar in principle to the well known 'Friends Reunited' web site. This web site outgrew a few hosts, was dumped by a few others that couldn't handle the resources the site needed and eventually ended up on it's own dedicated server.
As the web site was (still is) a free site, I needed to find a way of reducing the costs of the dedicated server so in a moment of pure genius (or madness!) I decided to sell some of my spare space and resources. I wasn't out to make a profit, I just needed a way of reducing the financial burden my hobby was placing on me.
Before I knew it, my hobby had started to grow considerably - so much so that I knew I needed to turn my hobby into a business. This didn't bode too well with my 'real' job so I went full time working for myself in the hosting business and secured myself a placement at the Teesside University Business School (Teesside University, Middlesbrough, England). I graduated in November 2007.
The business now has a number of servers in Holland, the United Kingdom and the United States and customers from every corner of the globe. In May 2008 Starteck Online began offering dedicated servers and full server management as a part of it's portfolio. Starteck Online is going from strength to strength as many of our long term customers can attest.
Starteck Online is a bit too much to handle on my own these days so we do enlist help. Our technical support and server management support departments are open and manned 24/7 (telephones are only manned during office hours 10am to 10pm GMT).
Starteck Online is wholly owned and operated by David Austen t/a Starteck Online and is registered for tax in the United Kingdom. Starteck Online is registered for Data Protection with the Information Commissioner's Office. Starteck Online carries full business insurances for your peace of mind.
